The Plain Hawkesbury Upton site of the village market place and was once where the village fair was held, note the communal well to the left there also seems to be a brazier with a notice board perhaps this warned about allowing animals to stray as the village pound is close by. The building on the right with the shaded entrance is the supply store later owned by Hensley’s just to its left is the Fox Inn just out of view but its sign can be seen the barn behind it has now gone its foundations are the walls ethier side of the present bus shelter.
