Coates family
The following information was kindly sent by Gerald Lewis Coates (I have contact info for Gerry)
Gerry is the Great grandson of Lewis Coates born in Hawkesbury Upton in 1824
Lewis left Hawkesbury where he worked as a labourer to become a Police Constable when he retired he was a Superintendent First Class with the Oxfordshire Constabulary before retiring due to ill health in 1888 to his home in Henley on Thames where he died in 1902.
