Circa 1900 shows the Portcullis with a thatched roof, its roof was relaced with
tile and its now a private house
The
Portcullis Inn, owned by the Duke of Beaufort, had an annual rateable value of
£12.15s.0d. in 1891 and 1903. (10 p.m. closing time). It once had a thatched
roof but has since been replaced. The Portcullis was a few yards to the north of
the Fleece Inn
